Potty Training 101

So. We decided when kelby was walking we'd start trying to potty train her. She started walking pretty early, and was getting good at it, so we went out an bought a potty to sit in the bathroom for her to get used to. Not long after we bought it, I couldn't hardly wait for her to go. Well, April 28th rolled around. It was late morning. I was nursing her in the living room. She wasn't really into it, wiggled down and walked around the coffee table. My boobs were about to explode, so as she made her next lap, I grabbed her up and tried again (to nurse her). A couple of sucks later she was back down on the floor. She made it half way around the table when she stopped. Ducked her head and held her breath (classic poopy face). She was looking at me like "hey something's going on here." I asked her if she was pooping, tried to figure out if she was pooping, trying to decided if i could get her to the potty before she pooped, wondering if i could get her jammies off fast enough to get her on the potty...when i realized, what the hell if she's pooped i'll still sit her on the potty. Got her back there, stripped her down (no poop yet), and put her on the potty, with her bunny book in hand. I sat on the BIG potty and read her book to her. She was very intent. After three readings, I decided if she wasn't gonna go, I wasn't going to make her sit there. i didn't want to cause any lasting damage or make her scared of the potty. As I picked her up...there it was...one giant turd and a little splash of pee! She was sitting kinda cock-eyed on the potty so that's why i never heard anything!! We had a similar performance the following day on the 29th. This time it was all pee, and it was like she had been waiting to be put on the potty. I'm so proud of her. I think she's proud of herself. Since this original episode, chris has taken her for her "morning constitutional" as he calls it once, and she's pooped once, and peed once more. She's still in diapers...but I think this road is going to be easier to travel than I once thought! Let's hope so!!
