Tubes

Well, after fighting ear infections since December Kelby might be getting tubes in her ears soon. The ENT wants to put them in. She has surgery tentatively scheduled, but she'll have a pre-op checkup. If her ears are clear at her checkup she won't get the surgery. Part of me hopes that her ears are clear because I don't want her to have surgery at such a young age, but part of me hopes they are still fluid filled because I really want her to have some relief. I'm starting to wonder if these concurrent ear infections are the reason why she's not sleeping through the night. Every time I turn around she's congested, only eating for a couple of minutes at a time, sleeping for only three hours at a time, and just being in a generally crabby mood. She's currently on an antibiotic in an attempt to prevent an ear infection. She went back to the ENT for a checkup and she didn't have an ear infection (no redness, puss, or swelling), but she did have fluid in both ears. I think she's allergic to the antibiotic though. Usually when she's on an antibiotic I give her yogurt and a bacteria supplement. She doesn't get the runs which means she doesn't get a diaper rash. Well, this time it's not working. She's eating her yogurt just like always, but she has red bumps in her diaper area, and the front of her crotch is all red...no where else which makes me think she must be truly allergic. I'm calling the doctor today when the office opens so I can ask. Will definitely keep you posted on this.
